Open Enrollment 2018/19

Open Enrollment Applications for the 2018-19 school year will be accepted from May 1 through May 31, 2018.  Applications will be available online in April.  Applications must be complete and have the appropriate documentation attached (current electric, gas, water bill, or lease agreement, and current grade card).  All applications should be submitted to the Superintendent’s office at 28090 Lemoyne Road, Millbury by the deadline.

Safety Town information for Summer 2018

Safety Town is a five-day summer program for children who will be entering kindergarten this fall. Children will learn many aspects of safety and how to make wise choices when faced with potentially dangerous situations.  More information can be found in the letter linked below.

Lake Local Schools Veteran Wall

Att: Lake Community Veterans And Families

Lake Local Schools wants to honor former students who served in the armed forces with a veteran’s wall. This would include anyone who attended and/or graduated from Lake Local Schools. Additionally, this includes those who attended schools that now make up the Lake Local School District. You can help by providing the name, year of graduation or last year attended, branch of service, and war(s) fought for yourself, family members, or friends. We are excited to launch a new kindness initiative here at Lake Schools called [project: change]. We are committed, in every grade level, to change ourselves, our school, our community and our world for the better. Today we kicked off this project with Blair Caldwell WTOL who spoke to our students about the importance of this initiative and introduced this video to our students and staff. We are proud to be Flyers and are excited to see how this movement will affect our community in the days to come.

Information about communication during incidents

As an overview of the school district’s communication process, during an incident like the lock down on February 26th, 2018:

Lake Local School’s staff understand when our buildings go into lock down, or a similar type of incident, that parents may be alerted by receiving messages from their children.

Our practice in such a situation is to ensure our students’ safety and to address the situation at hand.  Once we are in the position to alert parents with pertinent information we will do so through our normal means of dispersing that information.

Collection of military family information.

Lake Local Schools is asking that all district families please take a moment to fill out the form below.

The State of Ohio is requiring all schools to identify students with a parent or legal guardian who is an ACTIVE MEMBER of the Armed Forces or National Guard. We will report this information in the Educational Management Information System (EMIS) of the Ohio Department of Education. Please assist the district in complying with this requirement by providing your student’s name and the guardian’s military affiliation (if any). Please provide this information by February 20, 2018. School Closing and Delays text messaging

Due to a merger of our school alert system, anyone interested in receiving text messages about school closings or delays will need to opt-in to receive them.  There is a scheduled opt-in message that will be sent out on Monday December 4th, 2017 at 5:00 PM.

The message sent on December 4th will look similar to below:

“Lake Local Schools messages. Reply Y to confirm, HELP 4 info.  Msg&data rates may apply. Msg freq varies. schoolmessenger.com/txt”

If you would like to opt-in before then you can do by sending a message to: 67587 with either a “Y” or the word “Yes” as the content of the message.

Below is a flyer with information about this service and how to opt-in or out of messages.

If you choose not to opt-in you will still receive a phone call or email to the numbers and email addresses we have on file for school closings and delays.

Busing Update for MS/HS starting Wednesday, September 6, 2017

In a continued effort to provide safe and efficient bus service the following changes will begin on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. HS & MS only am and pm bus stops will be affected. The time listed by the stop is the new am pick up time. Please have your student at the bus stop 5 minutes prior to the bus arrival.
