Open Enrollment Policies and Procedures

Lake Local Schools will once again offer open enrollment to students and their families. Lake is proud of the offerings we provide in our buildings with our educational staff and work hard daily to give our students, their families, and our community the best educational setting possible. With that, we will begin a new open enrollment process this year. Our hope is that this updated process will make it easier for families to upload required documents and allow all materials to be submitted and stored in one centralized location.

Listed below are several key points regarding our Open Enrollment process, policy, and deadlines to ensure that we can have a clear picture of our enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year.  We ask that you please read this entire document as it is being presented in a way that, we hope, will answer many of the questions you may have. Along with many other aspects of preparing for the next school year, we wanted to get this information out now to ensure families have ample time to prepare and apply for enrollment moving forward.  Please note that this also includes our families that attend Penta as part of their daily schedules. 

Final Forms is where families will find the Open Enrollment Application. Access to this section will be made available on April 1, 2026, and will remain open through May 31, 2026. More details will be made available to you closer to the April 1st date.

FAQs:

1. What documents do I need for open enrollment?

   • See below or on our website. 

2. Are all families accepted with application?     

   • No.

3. Does applying “early” help my acceptance chances?

   • Not necessarily.  However, applying within the window is mandatory. 

4. Does being enrolled as an open enrolled student previously help my acceptance chances?

   • Not necessarily.  However, we do consider the previous year’s success and the programs that students are enrolled in.  (Penta, etc.)

5. Do all of my fees have to be paid before approval? 

   • Yes.  If needed, we can set up a payment plan schedule that matches family needs.  Please get in touch with your child’s building secretary for more details.

6. Do students who are planning on attending PENTA need to apply for open enrollment?

   • Yes.  In order to attend PENTA you must be enrolled in our schools prior to acceptance to PENTA.

7. When is the deadline to apply for open enrollment? 

   • May 31, 2026.  This is a firm deadline.

8. Does my student need to sign their Final Forms in order for the open enrollment application to be accepted?

   • No, only the parent portion is needed for the open enrollment application.
