VOCAL MUSIC CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

JET SET SHOW CHOIR

Prerequisite: Audition/Teacher permission

Grades: 8-12                 Fee: Varies.  Performance Clothing & Dance Shoes

DESCRIPTION: JET SET SHOW CHOIR consists of the best vocalists and performers at Lake High School.  This group will function as both a premier show choir and as community ambassadors  throughout the school year.  Students will meet three times a week, Monday & Wednesday 3:40-4:3 0 p.m. and Thursday mornings at 7:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.  During normal “Non-Covid” years, We also have a SATURDAY morning rehearsal at Miss Murphy’s Dance Studio once a month.  Students are required to be active members in a band or choir class during the school day in order to be eligible for membership.  (Conflicts happen, talk to Mrs. Recker if this is an issue.)

What kind of time commitment is required?  For JET SET SHOW CHOIR MEMBERS all rehearsals are outside of the school day.  At times, students will work on a rotating schedule for sectional work.  Student athletes are required to attend the first half of Jet Set rehearsal and then join their other teams and activities so that BOTH requirements are satisfied and the student is “shared”.  We also plan for JET SET SHOW CHOIR to periodically perform for school and community events throughout the year.  We will have two summer “meetings” to sing, socialize and have a little choreography “bootcamp”!

VARSITY QUARTETS/VLQ

Prerequisite: Audition/Teacher permission

Grades: 8-12                 Fee: None

The Varsity quartets and VLQ (Very LARGE Quartet)  consist of the best vocalists and performers at Lake High School and allows them to further develop their musicianship and vocal skills.  This group will function as both community ambassadors to promote our Music Dept. throughout the school year.  (In Non-Covid years the goal is to perform the National Anthem at school events.)  Students will meet one time per week, either Tuesday or Wednesday from  3:40-4:30p.m.

LMS THEATRE TROUPE

Prerequisite: Audition/Teacher permission

Grades: 5-7                 Fee: None

DESCRIPTION: The Lake Middle School Theatre Troupe began 5 years ago when a musical was produced that had no roles for our younger students.  Wanting to give them an opportunity to perform and develop performance skills, confidence, and a taste of Theatre...Theatre Troupe was born.  Auditions for Theatre Troupe are held after the December MS Drama Club meeting.  Students chosen to participate learn performance skills, work on singing, dancing, acting and how to navigate the nerves and anxiety that come with stage fright.  These students perform as the opening act for the Spring Musical and work several jobs, such as ushering, to help the production.
