Lake Local Schools is pleased to announce that Nicole Schmeltz will be hired as the district’s athletic director at the regularly scheduled board meeting on April 19, 2023.
Mrs. Schmeltz is a 2014 graduate of Lake High School, a 2018 graduate of Huntington University where she was a member of the track and soccer teams. Nicole has taught Social Studies at Northwood High School since 2018 and has been an assistant volleyball coach, the student council advisor, and a member of the building leadership team. Additionally, Nicole is currently an assistant track coach at Eastwood High School and served as the assistant athletic director for Eastwood from 2018-2022.
Mrs. Schmeltz is currently in the process of moving to Walbridge with her husband, Nick, and their two young daughters, Nora and Amelia.
Close to fifty applications were received to replace longtime athletic director Dave Shaffer who will be retiring this year but will continue on with the district as Director of Facilities and Maintenance as the district begins the construction of a new elementary school.
