March 25, 2022

Lake Community —

As we move toward the end of the 2021-22 school year, there are a couple of items that we want to bring to your attention:

  • If we have any calamity days for the rest of the year, each of those will be considered remote learning days. This will allow us to end the school year as planned without adding additional school days. Students will have work from their teachers that is expected to be completed upon our return to school or the date agreed upon with the student’s teacher.

  • Commencement will be held on May 22, 2022 in the high school fieldhouse. This class of seniors has had an unprecedented journey to graduation with the pandemic and we look forward to celebrating the ending of one chapter of their life and the beginning of the next on May 22.

  • The final day of school for the rest of our students will be June 3, 2022. You will be hearing more about the end of the year activities from building principals as we get closer to the end of the year. As a reminder, the last day of school for students is a 2-hour early dismissal.

  • Finally, you can find the 2022-23 school calendar on our district website and in our app. For the next two years, in order to accommodate the construction of the new elementary school we will have a more condensed calendar. We have worked with our board of education, teacher’s union, and our construction manager to try to allow as much time as possible for the campus to be clear of students and staff. With the limited space we have, it is very important, from a safety standpoint, to keep our youngest Flyers clear of the construction area. The 2023-24 school year will be a bit different from the “traditional” calendar and it will be released sometime next year.

Have a great weekend!

Jim
